Ryan may run unopposed

Six days before the filing deadline, the Democratic Party has no candidate to run against incumbent Paul Ryan for the 1st District Congressional seat.

Mark Pienkos, chairman of the Democratic Party in the 1st District, said it’s possible the Democrats won’t run anyone.

State party chairman Mike Tate recently told the Associated Press that the party couldn’t find a credible candidate.

Paulette Garin of Racine, who lost in the Democratic primary in 2008, said the 1st District party leadership had a list of potential candidates, but it appears three of them removed themselves from consideration.

Garin said she was fourth on the list.

Garin said she declared her interest in running over a year ago at the state party convention. But when asked this week, Garin would not say whether she would file nomination paper by Tuesday’s deadline.

Better get some protective headgear Nvgrf. You think he's bad? Remember John "lambert field" Kerry? Talk about a doosey? "I voted for it right before I voted against it." Didn't need negative campaign ads, he shot himself in the foot where ever he went. How about "screamin" Howard Dean? I think Ryan is pretty normal compared to those two.

NVgrf - Obama and McCain were the best this Country had to offer and that is what's really sad. Ryan has more brains than both of those two combined. Regardless of party sides.

President Ryan....when pigs fly! If he's the best the Republicans have to offer, the party is in big trouble.

Bush deviated too far from basic fiscal conservative values. He did more damage to conservatives than many of them realize.

The Bush years? Like when unemployment was 4%. If Bush was so wrong, why didn't the economy crash in 2001, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06, 07. Why did the recession start in Dec. 2007 due to his policies? We weren't in a recession in January 2007 when the Democrats took control of the spending.

Like I've said before, even Obama knows Ryan is a good thing.

Don't vote FROM something...vote TO something. We sure don't need the BUSH way of doing business again. We truly need something different than the same old politics.

Yes Ryan is strong contender but really the Democrates know that money spent this time around would be wasteful. People got the light real early this time around that they elected the wrong leader for this country and want to see a change real quick. I believe a lot of Democrates who are in office now will be out at this next election because of the top leaders in Washington today.

They're not running anyone because they know they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Mr. Ryan. Even the Dems know Paul Ryan makes perfect fiscal sense in Washington and it would be colossal waste of time and money to try to unseat him.

Not run anyone but still complain about Ryan for two years...this will be fun.
