Snow emergency declared
The city has declared a snow emergency beginning at 3 p.m.
All parked vehicles must be removed from streets and public parking lots until snow-plowing operations are complete. Keep vehicles off the streets until the streets have been plowed.
If you are unable to park in a driveway or garage, park in a designated snow emergency parking stall.
The designated stalls are located in six downtown municipal parking lots: --East Wall Street lot at East Wall Street and North Parker Drive. --City Hall lot at West Wall and North Jackson streets. --South High Street lot at West Court and South High streets. --Senior Center lot at St. Lawrence Avenue and Water Street. --Hedberg Public Library lot on Water Street. --River/Union Street lot at South River and Union streets.
Residents who park on streets during snow emergencies could be fined $20.
For more information, go to the city’s website at www.ci.janesville.wi.us or call 755-SNOW. To report problems or concerns, call 755-3110.

Isn't that why he resigned as police chief and moved back to California?

Thank you janesvillean. I was just curious. I rented from a couple on Jerome Street (by the plant) over 10 years ago and they would not let me park in the driveway so I got a ticket. I should have deducted it from my rent, huh? JMO

justme46, it's a combination of the city only having lots downtown, and downtown being the only part of the city where there are a lot of residents who lack off-street parking.

It is nice we have parking for snow emergencies, but what if you live on the southside or the northside of town? How do you get home? I have always wondered this. I park in my garage, but I know I have lived places without driveways. Again, how do you get home? Can someone explain this?

I for one, appreciate the efforts of the men and women working for our Public Works and Police and Fire Departments. I think they generally do an excellent job.
