MILWAUKEE -- A 44-year-old police officer was shot in the arm while trying to serve a search warrant at a home on the city’s north side where officers knew there was a "high risk“ of the presence of guns, Police Chief Edward A. Flynn said.

The chief said during a brief news conference Wednesday morning that the officer is expected to make a full recovery.

Flynn said the shooting occurred at a residence in the 3200 block of N. 12th St. Police scanner traffic indicated the shooting happened about 9:15 a.m.

A Milwaukee police tactical team and agents with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced they were entering the home and stormed in, Flynn said. Someone inside the home shot as officers were entering and hit the officer in the arm, the chief said.

Six people are in custody, including the person who was the target of the search warrant, Flynn said. A gun was recovered at the scene, and investigators are trying to quickly trace where it was sold. The chief said the investigation would reveal whether the person sought in the search warrant was the person who shot the officer.

hannah is correct, the criminals are the only people in WI. that are allowed to carry concealed. They will carry if it legal or not. The only people not allowed to carry concealed are the properly trained, government background checked, law abiding good guys and gals.

deezzz: Come on really? The problem was the criminal with the gun. The problem is always a criminal with a gun, not the law abiding citizens or in this case the law abiding officer. It is good to know that he should fully recover.

Not a brite idea but reality is it is getting pretty scary for all officers anywhere as the gangs and wannabees have no respect for authority and this is IMO just the beginning of gutzy ignorance and IMO we will probly see more of this.

How stupid do you have to be to shoot at a group of police officers and ATF officers storming into your house?
