MADISON—An Illinois man arrested in Janesville was sentenced in U.S. District Court on Monday to 10 years in prison for possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

Raymond Gray, 31, of Rockford, Ill., had 36 grams of crack cocaine, $4,000 in cash and a loaded .40-caliber handgun when Janesville police stopped a vehicle he was in on Locust Street and Centerway on Sept. 8, 2008, according to a Wisconsin Department of Justice news release.

Gray’s sentence was enhanced because he had prior drug-trafficking convictions. He pleaded guilty to the charge in July.

Rob- so true.. Its sad in society that women who have been violated, or an elderly man that has been beaten for money- is not as bad as some loser selling another WILLING loser drugs.. Makes ZERO sense.

How come no extra charges for the loaded handgun? If we can assume his prior convictions were felonies, that's supposed to be an ADDITIONAL charge! Again, we don't use/enforce the gun laws already on the books--yet the fanatics constantly scream that we need more of the same!

That 4 grand is easy money. City can start a rainy day fund, or does the cash stay with the department?
