Wis. driver involved in 4 crashes in 7 minutes
APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — An Appleton driver who was involved in four crashes in seven minutes has suffered life-threatening injuries.
The Wisconsin State Patrol says the 23-year-old was driving in Outagamie County early Sunday morning when he struck a guardrail. He then rear-ended two vehicles and continued driving.
Moments later he struck a traffic standard in the median of a county highway and ended up eastbound in the westbound lane. There he struck three vehicles head-on.
At that point the man's vehicle came to a stop. Emergency personnel responded and took him to a hospital.
One driver had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.
The crashes took place in a four-mile span.
The State Patrol says alcohol may have been a factor.

No matter what you guys will all still complain. If it is writtin what may have been a factor you all complain and ask how they know....If it is stated what was not beleived to be a factor you all complain and ask why it needs to be brought up. Would you rather just get the article Man hits 4 cars in 7 minutes. End of story. ?? Seems to me that some people look for something to complain about.

We all keep making the same old arguments every time we read one of these articles, and will continue to do so FOREVER unless something is done. The rule should be that no one is allowed to drive with ANY alcohol in their system. Either find a bar that's within walking distance, get a designated driver or don't drink. I'm tired of all these "hindsight" people who wish after the fact that they'd done "something differently." I don't want a family member or other loved one injured or killed because some "innocent" person who just happens to have too many ONE night got behind the wheel. That's just plain stupid.

Seven minutes seems like a long time for these events to unfold as described in the article.

Hannah--No never have been pulled over for it either. My issue with you is that you go so far as to make multiple phone calls to the police to stop a driver that apparently was NOT OWI, while drinking and then driving while you were in the process of doing it. I don't care if it was one drink or three drinks that you consumed while taking pleasure in watching this woman deal with the police, I found it incredibly hypocritical!
MOC.....It shows much of your character to wish harm on someone who disagrees with you--pretty sad actually.......Judging by the PM I received from you riddled with profanity, you come off as a pathetic, bitter individual.....I know it's difficult, but try not to let that make you less objective when considering the opinions of other people:)

916 you answer your own debate in your response 'yet you rarely see an article on accidents caused by these drivers in the headlines'. is there a liberal media agenda to suppress the demons of talking while driving?? when phone talking is the reason, you see it reported, its just that phones dont cause the number of accidents that alcohol does, regardless of your opinion. a phone driver is distracted but reaction time is not impaired as it is from consuming the 'eviler of two evils'. as ive stated before, a majority of people have cell phones. a minority of people drink an drive yet that is the factor that dominates the headlines. why?? jk you know the answer. bravo to you for never being arrested for owi. i could be a REALLY good russion roullette player but if i lose one time im instantly the worst player ever. so i ask you...why play??

916WI: At least you've finally admitted to acting like a complete fool! We have this article from this weekend and this one showing that drinking and driving do not mix under any circumstances, http://www.channel3000.com/news/21133501.... Why is this allowed?
Quit with the cellphone argument it is different that drinking and driving. It is still dangerous but not nearly as dangerous as drinking and driving. I'm not saying it is right but you can't compare the two. It's almost as if you are comparing them to relieve yourself of some guilt of drinking and driving, which you apparently do, probably more often that you are writing about. Go hop on your bike, tip a few back and run it into a tree so you don't ever hurt anyone else that my be innocent.

Dogsrule--you are correct--Even when it's not even remotely a factor, it seems like alcohol needs to be brought into the spotlight. People are fixated on it. From personal experience, cell phone users are the most dangerous drivers on the road--I have almost been run down twice while riding my motorcycle with people concentrating way too much on their conservation and way too little on their driving, yet you rarely see an article on accidents caused by these drivers in the headlines. You asked the question as to my bias--Do I have a few drinks with friends after work once in a while and then drive home? Absolutely. Have I every been arrested for OWI? Absolutely not.

Regarding the nonsense that 916WI has been posting: Alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Many articles covering accidents have been printed in this paper where the statement " alcohol does NOT seem to be a factor" was written. You only see what you want to see. As a matter of fact, 916WI has posted several times this weekend alone, regarding this. Is he/she looking for an excuse for their own drunk driving habits? Heck that person even said it was not that big of a problem and the media is just hyping it up.

fatigue, mental state, a reaction to medication, cell phone usage, etc.....
Most everyone would STOP at accident one if these were a factor.

Sure does seem to be bobb.....There are a million things that "may have been a factor"--fatigue, mental state, a reaction to medication, cell phone usage, etc.....until they know with certainty, why aren't these things also listed?

Unless the state patrol knows for sure that alcohol was a factor, why even say it was possible. It's possible that it was a medical issue. Thankfully no one was killed. I hope the driver recovers, my prayers are with him and his family.
