Rock County human resources director resigns
JANESVILLE—Rock County Human Resources Director John Becker has resigned, according to a news release from Administrator Craig Knutson’s office.
Becker’s last day of work will be Oct. 30, according to the letter that was released today. He was not in his office today when the Gazette called for comment.
Becker has worked for the county for seven years, the news release stated.
The county will work to recruit a replacement, according to the release.
The human resources department is responsible for filling employment vacancies, negotiating labor contracts, administering salary schedules, coordinating the county’s health insurance plan and maintaining county employment records. The department also manages the county’s employee training program and Affirmative Action plan, according to the release.

The Gazette immediately requested copies of all complaints against Becker and other documents related to his resignation. The county is considering that request and has about 10 days to respond. The Gazette will follow with a story as soon as the county responds or when other relevant information becomes available.
Contrary to rumor, the sheriff's office reports that police did not escort Becker from the building.

"He's gone, end of story, time to move on" -- so someone says below.
And interestingly enough, both my prior comment, as well as the story itself, seem to have disappeared from these pages!
Must have all been a dream, however real it felt, I guess -- and Rock County is probably wonderfully run by competent, dedicated, self-sacrificing people, just as ONE poster below says it is!
The rest of us must all be tragically in error. Thanks for explaining to us in detail how we could all be so wrong and how the County and it's board are working so hard to do the right thing in so many ways.
After all, it's only OUR TAX MONEY THAT SUPPORTS ALL THIS DRAMA AND WASTE!

well, I don't know anything about the HR Director, but I was on a high then a low after misreading the article title. I originally thought it was Human Services Director....
oh well, I'm sure that day will come soon, too...

Reality: for your information I'm not a Correctional Officer. However, I just know for a fact that Rock County is the LOWEST paying county in this state when it comes to Deputies, Correctional Officers and Juvenile Detention Officers.
There are also other reasons why I said what I said. However, I'm not going to disclose them here.
If he was escorted out of the courthouse by Deputies...it's definitely more to it.

Sandman, your comments about the County Administrator are misguided and inaccurate. The facts show that under his leadership Rock County government has been consistently excellent for years, especially compared to the train wrecks that exist in other counties in Wisconsin. Additionally, why don't you back up your words by naming the County Supervisors and the country clubs to which they belong? The County Board is anything but a country club set. Indeed, they are ordinary citizens who volunteer their time. Why do you feel compelled to insult them? As for Mr. Becker's situation, it seems as if you take delight in the misfortune and personal demons of others. He's gone, end of story, time to move on.

Why will the full story not be available until Wednesday's Gazette. I understand he was escorted out of the Courthouse Friday by the sheriff's office.

Isn't this the 2nd or 3rd upper management resignation in the past few months? Greener pastures or internal issues?

No kidding. Why would the correctional officers get more money?! Let me guess, you must be a correctional officer.
