Darien could re-instate police chief

DARIEN—The Darien Village Board on Monday night could vote to reinstate fired Police Chief Steve DeVoy.

If the board approves the agreement, DeVoy could come back to work under a strict list of conditions. The agreement is a compromise between board members who want DeVoy fired and those who want him to work without restrictions, attorney Mark Hazelbaker said.

DeVoy has been suspended since December. He was fired in March, but a hearing has been pending to make the action official.
