Wis. audit finds savings, problems in plan
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new audit finds a plan to consolidate state operations has saved about $19 million in state purchases.
But the Accountability, Consolidation and Efficiency Initiative, or ACE, spent nearly $400,000 more than allowed on three purchasing contracts, sold only about $9.6 million of the $36 million in state property it was supposed to sell and spent $113.5 million on computer projects, significantly exceeding original estimates for the work.
The Department of Administration says ACE has helped state agencies lapse $534 million back to the state's general fund.
