Wis. plans conference on drug-endangered children
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Drug-endangered children are the focus of conference in Wisconsin Dells this week.
The state Justice Department, the Children and Families and Public Instruction departments as well as federal prosecutors are sponsoring the fourth annual gathering, set to begin Wednesday.
More than two dozen Wisconsin counties and tribes operate programs to help children who suffer physical or mental harm or neglect because they're exposed to drug trafficking or dangerous drug environments, such as a methamphetamine lab.
The Oneida Nation's program as well as programs in Portage, Milwaukee and Racine counties all are up for awards for outstanding work.
