Wis lawmakers working on bill to get stimulus cash
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin lawmakers are still working with Gov. Jim Doyle and others to come up with changes in law so the state can qualify for federal education stimulus money.
Wisconsin is one of only three states that has a law that will disqualify it from qualifying for more than $4 billion in money under the "Race to the Top" program.
The law in question forbids student test results from being used to evaluate teachers.
California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called a special session for that state's Legislature to take up changes so it can qualify. Nevada has a similar ban.
Wisconsin Democratic state Rep. Sondy Pope-Roberts of Verona said Tuesday there is general agreement on how to change the state's law. She expects a bill to pass in coming weeks.

State fleas have County fleas upon their backs to bite 'em,
And County fleas have Municipal fleas, and so ad infinitum.
And the State fleas themselves, in turn, have Federal fleas to go on,
While these again have United Nations fleas, and NATO fleas, and so on."

The federal government steals our money, then tells us what we have to do to get a little bit of it back.
