MILWAUKEE — Data shows that fares for flights departing for Milwaukee this fall have dropped 20 percent compared with last year and may be falling even more.

Analysts say that's because AirTran Airways and Southwest Airlines are providing more competition in the Milwaukee market.

Travelocity.com vice president Simon Bramley says the price for departing Milwaukee is 16 percent less from January through October than the national average and will be 30 percent less from November through March.

Both AirTran and Southwest have been adding flights after Oak Creek-based Midwest Airlines cut service nationwide by around 40 percent last year.
