JANESVILLE--The Rock County Board on Thursday night voted 21-5 against pulling $250,000 from a special parks and conservation fund.

The resolution would have borrowed $250,000 from a fund that was created when the American Transmission Company gave the county $1.8 million for a high-voltage transmission line that’s being built across the county.

The $1.8 million was equally split between the parks and land conservation departments in the 2009 budget.

The county finance committee proposed the change to help fill a projected a projected 2010 budget shortfall.
