Janesville athletics budget overspent
The Janesville School District overspent its athletics budget by nearly $90,000 last year, officials reported to the school board Tuesday.
“This does not appear to be a case of gross overspending but rather a case of reasonable spending being compared to an erroneous budget,” CFO Keith Pennington wrote in a memo to the board.
The budget mistakenly did not include several expenses, including scheduled pay increases for some coaches, and it did not allow for the cost of travel and food for any post-season trips and appearances, Pennington said.

90 THOUSAND dollars for meals and pay increases? That comes out to $2,368 per sport. That's a pretty bing pay increase and some pretty elaborate meals and traveling. What did they eat? Prime and lobster and ride in limos? Good grief.

Why are so many people from Janesville not for sports, It build so much for a child... and yea I have childern in sports and we pay out alot of money for them to do soo.. and that is not always easy.. but we do it... Kids in Janesville have it tough ... I mean we have been trying to get a state park for years now and it we have nothing yet.. Look at our surrounding cities that are smaller.. they have bigger/nice pools, skate parks, etc and we as bigger city have nothing................WHY and WHY

I don't think the tax payer should foot any of this kind of expence,it is "NOT" education! If these kids want to play(just that,PLAY) their parents should foot the whole bill,not us!
