Wis. Dept. of Tourism launches Fall Color Report
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — With autumn just around the corner, the Wisconsin Department of Tourism is launching its annual Fall Color Report.
The online report lets travelers track the change of colors in Wisconsin's 16 million acres of forests.
The foliage will change from green to a vibrant palette of colors over the next 10 weeks or so. About 100 observers will be providing updates in all 72 counties so people across the state can find out where the colors are best.
The report is available at TravelWisconsin.com. State officials say it will be updated regularly, including on Wednesdays so people can use the information to make weekend plans.
The report will show peak color locations and timing, as well as the percentage of local trees in peak color.

Three weeks ago we started seeing some oranges and reds in our hedges- they are usually 2 weeks earlier than the maples.

I was thinking the same thing Sarah when I saw those colored trees. But with the seasonally cooler summer we had, we will probably see the trees turn color a little sooner. The same thing happened a couple years back when we had a cooler summer. I can't wait for the leaves to change color on the majority of trees... it's my favorite time of year and my favorite thing about Wisconsin.
