Wardens cite 15 for clubbing animals
BEAVER DAM (AP) — Wisconsin wardens have cited 15 young people for clubbing wild animals.
State Department of Natural Resources wardens got a tip this past spring about people chasing and clubbing animals, including raccoons and opossums, in Columbia and Dodge counties.
An ensuing investigation has led to 158 citations against 15 people for a range of infractions, including illegally killing protected wild animals, hunting without a license and unreasonable waste of a natural resource.
The DNR says 10 of the people cited are from the Beaver Dam area and range in age from 17 to 22. The remaining five are juveniles.
Warden Paul Nadolski says many of the group are high school friends and regarded the clubbing as a game, awarding points for accumulating dead animals.

Ok, thanks Swisschick. For those interested in these thrill killings, here's a story from July 23's Madison.com. http://host.madison.com/news/local/artic...
It states that the brothers who killed the deer claim that they were hunting, but it does not state that they were aquitted.

Pete, the difference is that these kids (young adults) did not eat their kill or make clothes.. thats a good idea though, make them eat all the little critters and wear their skins.. maybe a little rotten by now but I bet Bear Grills would still eat them so they can too.

What is wrong with these kids?! Would love to take these criminals out to the woods and let them see how it feels to be clubbed. I hope they throw the book at these losers!

mrsjoe - I hadn't heard anything about the outcome of that trial (regarding the snowmobilers who killed the deer). I can't find anything on-line about it either. Can you help?

It would be a form of anti-social behavior, I believe, in this enjoyment of torturing and killing animals.

It's too bad Wisconsin doesn't do jack about wild animal cruelty. Like the snowmobilers who ran over the deer, tied one up to a tree to get it later...their charges all got dropped because the judge said they were "hunting" at the time!!! Too bad these morons didn't get rabies from the coons and possums.

Reminds me of the big bad macho men that run over the deer with snow mobile's . and hunters that shoot mourning doves a very timid bird .

I don't know if I buy the raccoon story, unless they were young ones. Most I've seen are rather large, fast and angry, especially in close quarters.
Either way, it was stupid.

I agree, pahtu. Keeping in mind, of course, that the majority of these morons are adults, not kids. That's even worse.
