MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s top elections official is promising more improvements to the state’s new $1 million computer database for campaign finance information.

Government Accountability Board Director Kevin Kennedy promised action Tuesday as the one-year-old system came under withering criticism during an Assembly committee hearing.

Several lawmakers, a Democratic Party consultant and a government watchdog group complained the system was too difficult to use for campaign treasurers and the public. Some said it is now harder to find out who is donating money to politicians and how they are spending it.

Kennedy says he is listening to the feedback and agency officials will meet Thursday with their software vendor to make additional changes.
