Illinois man found in Geneva Lake
LINN TOWNSHIP--Walworth County authorities on Wednesday recovered the body of an Illinois man submerged in Geneva Lake near a pier off Linn Pier Road.
The 42-year-old white male is identified as Artun Staron of Lake in the Hills, Ill., according to a statement from the town of Linn Police Department.
The department received a complaint around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday regarding a suspicious black pick-up truck parked at the Linn Pier boat launch for the past few days, according to the statement.
Officers followed up on the complaint and ran the car’s license plates. Records showed the car belonged to Staron, who has been missing since Monday.
Walworth County Sheriff David Graves said the missing person report was filed by Staron’s family.
According to Linn police, the original missing person report indicated Staron might be depressed.
Rescue boats from Linn Township and Fontana began a shore search for Staron.
At about 2:10 p.m., two fishermen located the body approximately 50 feet off the end of the pier and about 10 feet into the water, according to Linn police.
Members of the Walworth County Dive Team were called to recover the man’s body, Graves said. According to Linn police, foul play is not suspected. The cause of death is pending an examination by the Walworth County coroner, Graves said.
