Authorities are rerouting traffic around an accident at Highway 14 and Holt Road in Union Township, near the Rock-Dane county line.

A call came in at 4:42 p.m. about a one-vehicle rollover with a person pinned, said a dispatcher with the Rock County Communications Center.

The area is under the jurisdiction of Rock County Sheriff Office for police and Brooklyn EMS for medical response.

Ahh, I love when everyone just assumes things. Makes for entertaining comments.

And honestly, I think when there is an accident on a roadway, the road should get closed. There are several people on the road, assisting with the accident and the rubber-neck drivers who just HAVE to see whats going on can hit one. Just not worth it, IMO.

For the dork who thought it was over kill to close the road....I think it might have been tuff for traffic to get around the helicopter that was landed in the middle of the road.

Actually John Doe, I should have explained myself better. I was on Hwy 14 tonight in the midst of the insanity and the radio report was that the accident was on Holt Road "near Hwy 14". That was why I was amazed that they would need to close Hwy 14 down for a one car accident that was (according to reports) not on Hwy 14. My bad!

This is exactly why I hate driving on Hwy 14. There is far too much traffic on that road for only two lanes, and I am not one to speed, so I always have people on my rear end, and it just makes me a nervous wreck. I will drive two hours out of my way just to avoid the stress. I so hope this person recovers. ((prayers))

They usually close the road down, highway or not when it is a fatality. Or just for the emergency responders saftey!! Everyone just needs to gear down a bit!

Hey chevy....what if the victim was in the middle of the road?....or measurements needed to be taken from the road itself?...or many other factors of which you are clueless?..

And the fact that it was a "state" highway has nothing to do with it. All accidents should be investigated thoroughly.

Not to take away from the tragedy of any accident but why would a State Hwy need to be closed for a one car accident??? I was on Hwy 14 tonight but I turned around and detoured once I saw the backup and the squad cars...I expected to read that there was a multi-car pileup that necessitated the closure of a State Hwy and I see a "one-car accident". Overkill???

I doubt truth1 will be able to comprehend this...because he always wants to place blame on "someone"...but what if perhaps it was caused by "mechanical" failure?....just a thought to entertain in the absence of actual evidence..

but that never stops truth1...

Isn't it about time for the "heartfelt prayers" and "best wishes for the family" blurbs to be inserted in this incongruous and irrelevant chain-of-consciousness comment thread about an untimely article posting that bears more resemblance to a travel warning than a real, factual, detailed news story?

Well, it DID have a cause, whether it was that driver or another's fault.

Where did they mention falling asleep? Or pressing luck? or speed? All I see is someone rolled over and was pinned. Period.

Point is, where did they mention speed? Stop making assumptions and spreading misinformation. It is incredibly irresponsible.
