Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton is withdrawing from the race for Wisconsin governor in 2010, for what she says are personal reasons.

Lawton’s campaign sent an e-mail to supporters Monday stating she is withdrawing. The letter reads in part:

“You know better than any my confidence in Wisconsin people, and in our resilience in a time of crisis, and in our capacity to innovate new ways to shape a better future for our state. My deep commitment to our state is second only to my commitment to my family. For very personal reasons, I will not pursue the Democratic nomination for governor in 2010. I look forward to providing active leadership to shape smart decisions for Wisconsin in the 14 months that remain in my term in office. I will stand with you, as always.”

Hey Zoom, as you sit and joke...I have several friends and some family members over there. I think a General who has served and is asking for something should atleast the respect of a decision a little bit sooner than what he is getting. So laugh, enjoy...I find it disgusting.

I wonder if Mayor Barrett is still against concealed carry permits since that miscreant laid a pipe upside his head at the State Fair?

I'm not optimistic about any of the current candidates or prospective candidates doing anything significant to fix Wisconsin's economy or manage the state's finances. I'm just hoping enough of the anti-gun turkeys in office get voted out so we can get a concealed carry law passed and let Illinois be the sole hold-up, er... hold-out state.

I concerned that we'll see an increase in crimes against people in Wisconsin over the next decade.

Mike Sheridan won't be elected Governor he doesn't have the statewide name regionation that Neumann, Walker, and Barrett have. I see Mark Neumann as the next Governor Of Wisconsin!!

God help us if Mike Sheridan runs. I hope he doesn't, if he does I will vote Republican even though I have voted Democratic for years. I predict there will be a Republican Governor next election.

Barrett is a Doyle clone. He won't win. I am going with the one who will give us our money back, lower taxes which will bring businesses back - Scott Walker!

Exactly. Do the research. Easy enough to do. As long as the candidate wants government out of people's personal lives (not telling people what they can/cannot do with their bodies and giving people equal opportunity to succeed, marry, etc) and not following direction (being neutral) from religious factions, this type of person will get my vote at least 90% of the time.

"look what the polls got us into with the dimwit who cant even decide how to handle the war in Afghanistan."

What does Bush have to do with this discussion?

Barrett is the polling favorite. It will be interesting if he announces in the coming days, then it could seem like this was coordinated to avoid a head-to-head.

A safer bet is that the Obama administration asked her to bow out as it is pressuring Mayor Barret to run. She will get a nice federal job in return.
