Tree snaps utility poles, knocks out power
JANESVILLE—Thirty-some Alliant Energy customers remain without power at 5 a.m. and most likely will be without power for another five hours, according to a Janesville Police Department patrol supervisor.
When a tree fell in the area of Benton Avenue and Thomas Street, it clipped two Alliant energy poles and knocked out power around 2 a.m. to a large number of Alliant customers in the area between Hawthorne and Milton Avenues and Parker Drive, said Lt. John Olsen.
“Traffic signals were out at Milton Avenue and Memorial Drive for a couple hours,’’ he said.
Most of the power, however, was restored around 4:30 a.m., Olsen said.
Alliant crews remain on scene.

Seriously, you people that get laughed at by Alliant need to get the name of the person that laughs at you.

bobb1951, Alliant laughed at you and hung up? And, you are also saying that your electric rate is based upon the amount you use and if you don't live up to their estimates they raise your rate? WOW, get a lawyer! Alliant is breaking the law.

Killing the power just before your post would have been a good start..........

I have often wondered how it would be, to just turn off the lights and the television, the computer and gaming consoles, and all the rest save for the refigerator and the furnace. Just to see if it would be do-able. Pretty sure it can be done. I just have to muster up the fortitude to do so. One week out of every month without electric luxuries... But I suppose it would drive utility bills up even higher if everyone did this, as the general rule of supply/demand doesn't seem to make any bit of difference anymore...
