RACINE — Federal prosecutors say 41 people in the Racine area have been indicted on drug charges, and say most are alleged gang members.

U.S. Attorney Michelle Jacobs says the suspects range in age from 18 to 38.

She says 15 of the suspects were arrested Thursday, and 19 were already in custody. She says the other seven remain at large.

Prosecutors say many are members of Racine street gangs.

Jacobs says the charges against each include conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. She says most defendants, if convicted, could get 10 years to life in prison, as well as fines up to $4 million.

Thursday’s arrests were the latest phase of a federal drug crackdown in the area. Jacobs says 30 other alleged gang members were indicted after two separate raids since last year.

Oh yes, the simpletons are out in force on this one, with accusations of racism being fired off almost in full auto.

40 years into the drug war and 5 times the incarceration rate of the rest of the world...I'm sure these are just about the last of the drug arrests. GOOD JOB COPS! I wonder why liquor store owners aren't found taking part in liquor dealing wars.

THEY HAD ALL THE NAMES IN ONE ARTICLE AND MOST WERE NOT ILLEGAL ALIEN NAMES. I detect a little racism in here and FYI many other races deal drugs, are violent and are gang members MAYBE PEOPLE NEED TO READ ARTICLES AND THINK BEFORE THEY TYPE.

I think what I'm more angry about is the fact that people can't grow up and find better ways to spend their precious time on this earth. If drugs are in your routine, trying changing YOUR ways and maybe we would have less problems.

Mexico is cracking down like this, too. Last year over 5000 people were murdered because of it. Decapitated bodies were found in a grade school yard. The government is making our country much more dangerous for us, and they're sending us the bill. Are you angry yet?

Today:"The DEA deals what they call a "significant blow" to the “La Familia” drug cartel.
Federal authorities arrested close to 12 hundred people and confiscated thousands of pounds of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine drugs in what they call "Project Coronado.""

The Mexican drug cartel comment comes across very differently when you know about this. But it seems that the Racine arrests are not related to this.

"The arrest Feb. 26 of Joseph J. Stinson of Racine, who had been under investigation since the fall of 2005, led police to co-conspirators in subsequent months.."

Joseph J. Stinson doesn't sound like the name of an illegal Mexican to me!

rolismommy; The DEA arrested 300 people across the USA today and they were from the Drug cartel. My question was "were these people part of that gang" After seeing the names of the 41 people, I assume they may not be illegal imingrants. Don't be so quick to use the racist card. My eyes have been open for over 66 years. That is why I was looking for the rest of the STORY.

went4milk: why is it that you assume that because these people are arrested on drug charges and are gang members that they are either of the Mexican drug cartel and then question their immigration status. Talk about racism.... do you not realize that people of any and all races can be gang members as well as be arrested on drug charges. OPEN YOUR EYES! no race is a perfect race and don't be so racist, you may learn a thing or two that makes you appreciate your life just a little bit more.

i wonder why these gangs dont traffic, profit, and avoid paying taxes on alcohol?? oh yeah...we figured out that prohibition is senseless. drug POLICIES fuel these types of activities...not drug USAGE.

Are these people part of the Mexican drug cartel or is this a different gang. I wonder how many of these people that were arrested are illegal immigrants? Maybe we will get the rest of the story later.
