EAST TROY -- Walworth County officials have formed a business retention team to try and keep Buell Motorcycles Co. production in East Troy.

The Walworth County Economic Development Alliance has formed a team of officials from the Village of East Troy, Walworth County Board and East Troy Chamber of Commerce, according to an economic development alliance news release.

The team hopes to meet with company founder Erik Buell to learn about the company’s options and evaluate what could be done.

Totally incorrect statement: "Forgot to add the engine in the 1125R is the same Rotax engine that is in the BRP Spyder with out the reverse gear transmission." This engine was developed in conjuction with Buell FOR Buell from a clean slate. It is not in any other products. ALSO, Erik has NEVER used a Moto-Guzzi engine. The first was a British (Barton, 2-stroke, square four). All others have been Harely or BRP/Rotax.

If they don't get engines from Harley, what more can they do? Put a Honda in it? Good luck. It a shame that one more American manufacturer is folding. Aren't all the news channels and paper's saying the recession is over? It won't be over here for years.

It’s a nice gesture but not realistic or feasible, sorry to say. I won’t give up hope though.
