SHAWANO—A Whitewater man was arrested on drug charges after being spotted near the Navarino Wildlife Area, where authorities eradicated about 8,000 marijuana plants this week.

Jacob L. Repinski, 19, of 212 S. Esterly St., faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.

A Shawano County highway worker called the sheriff’s office because Repinski was acting suspiciously in the area near the grow operation, according to the criminal complaint. A police dog found several marijuana plants, a gallon-sized plastic bag of marijuana and five marijuana pipes in his vehicle, which was parked nearby, according to the complaint.

Repinski faces up to more than 10 years in prison and more than $25,000 in fines if convicted.

Repinski was ordered held in the Shawano County Jail on $2,500 cash bond.

Also how do they test for it in the field now?

They search the vehicle for candy wrappers. :-)

Also how do they test for it in the field now? Probably just don't notice the people under the influence of pot is my guess.

Milton - you think it reflects well on us that we have almost double the incarceration rates of the next most "jaily" country: Russia?
.
I am going to guess you are a fiscal conservative like me - I don't that over 24K per year is spent on over 2.2 million of our citizens to keep them incarcerated. Not to mention the court cost, the costs to catch these guys, to build new prisons, ect.

kid, just because we cant detect something doesnt mean you are not impared, it simply means that we dont have the means to test for it. You and I both know (yes i have smoked in my younger days) that if you get some wicked stuff that you can be pretty messed up for a while, certainly not able to drive, yet we cant test for that. Im not even 100% against legalization but it needs to come with strict requirements ans most certainly a way to guage level of THC intoxication.

Quote "We must continue to lead the world in per capita incarceration rates if we are going to continue to be the "Land of the Free", "
.
What an oxymoronic statement, land of the free has nothing to do with locking up criminals. So by your inferance simply because we are the "Land of the Free" we shouldnt lock up people who break the law or that reflects badly on us as a nation?

correct miltonalum. but the bigger question is...if you cant tell someone is impaired without a blood test...how impaired are they??

come up with a way to test for THC marijuana intoxication in the field and we shall legalize it, until then you will have no statistics and no legalization.

When is this stuff going to be legal and taxed, instead of throwing away are tax dollars on arresting and imprisoning someone caught with a weed.

We must continue to lead the world in per capita incarceration rates if we are going to continue to be the "Land of the Free", this War on Drugs is really working out well.
