State says swine flu in 52 Wisconsin counties
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Swine flue cases have now been reported in 52 of Wisconsin's 72 counties and led to 26 hospitalizations since Sept. 1.
The newest figures are included in the state Department of Health's weekly update on the flu virus, also known as H1N1.
The swine flu has led to one death this fall and nine this year.
Wisconsin has received about 213,000 doses of flu vaccine since Oct. 9. The initial shipments went to larger hospitals, clinic systems and public health agencies so they could begin to vaccinate health care workers.
The state health department says three schools have closed for multiple days so far this fall due to swine flu. They are the Wisconsin Dells High School, River Valley Middle School in Spring Green and the Medford Area School District.
