Wis. lawmakers to get update on economy
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin lawmakers are scheduled to get an update on the status of the state's economy.
The chief economist for the Department of Revenue and a top official with the Wisconsin Commerce Department are scheduled to speak Tuesday before an Assembly committee.
Economist John Koskinen is set to provide updated information on the existing economic environment and projections into next year.
Commerce executive assistant Zach Brandon is scheduled to talk about the effectiveness of the state's economic development and incentive programs.
Wisconsin's unemployment rate is nearly double where it was a year ago and state government has been forced to raise taxes and make other cuts to deal with the highest-ever projected deficit.
