Suspect strips to avoid arrest

SHEBOYGAN — Police say a Wisconsin woman stripped in front of her children in an attempt to avoid arrest for shoplifting and then scuffled with officers.

Julia E. Laack, 36, of Sheboygan was charged Friday with felony battery to a peace officer, resisting, shoplifting and two counts of disorderly conduct, the Sheboygan Press reported.

The criminal complaint alleges Laack stole a bag of beef jerky and a lighter at a convenience store Thursday. Police went to her home. The complaint said she refused to come to the door and began screaming and swearing at three children in her house, telling one that the incident was all his fault.

Police entered and tried to calm her down. With her children present, the complaint said, she stripped to her underwear and told the officers they couldn’t arrest her because she would be naked. Laack struggled with officers as they tried to arrest her, the complaint alleged, kicking one in the groin and spitting in the mouth of another.

While in the squad car on the way to the police station, the complaint said, Laack exposed her buttocks against the rear window.

Shoplifters are stealing from the other customers, when the store has their property stolen by a shoplifter, they have to raise the price on goods to make up for it.

Ice, you picked up the slobs' garbage for them, that will teach them a lesson, I suppose. (sarcasm off) If they are as you describe, they are used to others doing everything for them. They won again.

I agree that it's NOT overkill to send cops after her for this. WHEN WE AS A SOCIETY SHOW WE WON'T TOLERATE THE "NUISANCE" STUFF, WE MAKE A BIG DENT IN THE ESCALATION FACTOR THAT LEADS SO MANY NUISANCE CRIMINALS INTO BIGGER AND BADDER THINGS! She gets away with this, the next thing you know, she's scamming some child care fund that the state runs...like all those scofflaws in Milwaukee did. That's why when I'm out in the community, I pester people about small stuff...it's not just the cops' job...it's ALL our jobs to speak up and make scofflaws know they DON'T LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE THE REST OF US ARE JUST "PROPS" AND BACKGROUND TO THEIR OVER-SELFISH LIFESTYLE! The other day an obvious welfare-case mom and grown daughter pulled into a parking spot near me and the daughter ejected a half-eaten apple onto the asphalt as she got out...literally chucked it out...not an accidental discharge from the vehicle. I said, "Pick that up and put it in the garbage...don't leave it there." She and the mom launched into me about "mind my own business" and "the birds will just eat it." When I got done in the store, they were still there, and so was the apple, so I strode straight up to them and their car, picked up the apple and took it to the garbage myself...earning a big knowing smirk from a nearby construction worker who loved what I was doing. The losers were apoplectic that I'd done such a good deed, and now chimed in "you never gave us a chance to pick it up," and "you need to back up off of us." I just told them to think of this incident next time they think "Oh, nobody will mind if we just cut some corners here or there." Next time they want to trade some of their food stamp money for booze, or park in the disabled spot without a passcard, or whatever...hopefully they'll have a sense that "Someone might have a cow..." and just follow the rules in the first place!!

I feel sorry for the kids to have to live with a unstable Mother who should be setting an example for them instead of acting NUTS.

It just goes to show the overpowering addiction of beef jerky on people. It should be controlled by the BATF or banned.

At what point do you arrest her? When she beats her kids? When she steals a six pack? Come on people, get real. The woman is a crook, plain and simple. If you truly believe the police should look the other way, I wonder what you'd say if crooks stop at your house to steal things of yours? That's okay, leave them alone?

yeah, waste of time. This woman seems like someone that should have just been left alone with her kids. Give me a break.

What a nut. I trust they'll also charge her with indecent exposure and put her on the sex offender registry for life. Gross. Gives me the willies just thinking about it.
