Sheboygan man accused of making terrorist threat
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — A Sheboygan man is accused of stealing a car and later telling police he was a terrorist who planned to blow up the police department and kill his probation officer.
Prosecutors charged 45-year-old Jeffery M. Goelzer with felony counts of burglary and driving a vehicle without the owner's consent. He was also charged Monday with misdemeanor counts of theft and disorderly conduct.
The charges carry a maximum prison sentence of 16 years.
The criminal complaint says police pulled Goelzer over Friday morning on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle. The complaint says he told officers he hated Americans because he was from Canada, and he should be considered a "terrorist threat."
There was no telephone listing for Goelzer. Online court records didn't list a defense attorney Tuesday.
