JANESVILLE—The Rock County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 19-year-old Albany man in its investigation into an early-morning two-vehicle crash that involved drag racing, according to Capt. Jude Maurer.

Kenneth M. Johnson has been arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated, operating while suspended, racing on a highway, reckless driving and underage drinking, Maurer said.

Two vehicles were reported racing side-by-side at 2:50 a.m. today on Keesey Road, west of Orfordville at the Rock/Green County line, when one of the drivers left the roadway a bit, overcorrected, then collided with the other vehicle causing it to roll, he said.

Johnson was ejected from one of the vehicles and sustained shoulder injuries, Maurer said.

He did say nobody suffered life-threatening injuries as the result of the crash.

The other driver fled the crash scene on foot, Maurer said.

“We’ve got a pretty good idea who it is," he said.

Maurer also said he doesn’t believe there were passengers in either vehicle because an investigation into the crash continues.

Hannah - Drag racing is racing from a stand still. It has nothing to do with speed, its all acceleration. Ive drag raced lots of people and beat them without even surpassing the speed limit. :)

There is a difference between drag racing and road racing.
If you don't know the difference...don't try either one!

I've talked to countless dads of old about the good ol' days. Many stories about drag racing and crazy stuff. They all must have had bad parents. Young people do stupid things, I did, you did, if you,re lucky, you learn and complain about other peoples kids.

i guess niether of them had the faster car or they wouldnt have driving side by side. if they wanna race down the highway one of them needs to build up the motor in thier car so they can drive in single file. that is dangerous driving side by side

I got an excuse for ya.... Try putting the blame where it belongs...On the parents.

Children and kids alike have absolutely no respect for absolutely anything in todays day and age.

If the parents brought them up with out any common sence then you cant expect thier spawn to act any different then what they were taught.

Point being...Fix whats in your own back yard before you go looking over the fence.

I don't see any of the excuse-makers here yet, but I'm sure they'll show up.

Committing violence with a deadly weapon is just fine with most officials as long as the POLITICALLY CORRECT weapon is used.

Ever notice how many people who are involved in driving related incidents, are seemingly always suspended, revoked, drunk etc.? Don't mind me I'm just picture painting. Wisconsin needs to up the penalties for these other offenses-right now! People are ignoring the rules and the law, more than you think. You don't have a license (and almost always for good reasons)---then get off of the damn road! This driver should see real jail time.

Right, this is funny.... NOT! How would you feel if you or a loved one was on that road with them and was killed because of it? Then you wouldn't think it was so funny then, would you.

And just how much tragedy needs to happen before people stop "thinking" it's funny?

"Maurer also said he doesn’t believe there were passengers in either vehicle because an investigation into the crash continues" this statement makes absolutely no sense.

yes, I agree how funny it would have been had a family in a van been there! Har-har!

Seriously, what a shame their genes weren't removed from the pool. They should have taken themselves out before they kill anyone else.

When you see the word racing, you tend to think speeding. I don't imagine there are too many drivers who are racing, trying to beat the other driver, and only going 45 MPH. Just a thought.

doesnt say how fast they were going. Maybe they were only doing 45? Just cause they were racing dont mean they were speeding.
