inattentive can kill just a quick as drunk. Also, the difference between driving and shooting a gun is; guns are designed for one reason - to kill. Autos are designed to transport regardless of your intent or condition.

Napalm- VERY good explanation/analogy .....I agree with you 100% ........SAME goes for extreme reckless driving like 20mph over speed limit/blantantly running reds ........mass-killings split seconds from reality.
.
Bullets persue death with less than an ounce, motor vehicles persue death with TONS.

ljs64: Yes we do need tougher DUI laws but they also need to be backed up by our judges, Long jail time and big fines. So what is your plan .... Let them drive around drunk and do nothing?

7992 thinks that if a person with 1 OWI or DUI has their license taken away that will prevent them from driving. Hello?? The people that think tougher OWI/DUI laws will decrease the number of OWI/DUI offenses have their heads in the sand. Let's lower the BAC to .04 and guess what, MANY MORE arrests and convictions. For multiple offenders the penalties for breaking the law is NO deterrent.

I don't get it. Why does Wisconsin let DUI's get up this high and even higher? Wisconsin should do what Germany does, one DUI = license taken away.

I don't know enough about law, but I don't understand why the warrant was invalid. He was supposed to show up and didn't.

My 18 year old cousin was killed by a drunk driver who had 6 prior drunk driving convictions it was devastating to the family, this jerk was sentenced 7 years in prison for murdering my cousin!!! At his sentencing, after the sentence was handed down he turned and looked at my cousins mother and said "I hope your happy!!!" 1st offense drunk driving should be a felony conviction, hopefully soon people will realize how stupid drinking and driving is, no matter how many drinks you have had!!

It sounds like he has a good case. The arrest solely a product of a screw up by the court system......I'd like to see the video footage from the squad and the breath test results......

Napalm - should we include texting/talking on a phone attempted murder also? I am not reducing the act of driving drunk, but I know some people who drive better after drinking then some people stone cold sober...

Napalm, attempted murder is when you intend to kill someone and fail to do so. It isn't at all the same as reckless operation of a vehicle. If you want to put someone away for a long time for driving drunk, make the penalty for driving drunk going to prison for a long time, but don't try to pretend there was intent to kill.

BTW, where do these idiots get the money for their legal fees?? Holy crap! If I had the money they put towards attorneys to fight their convictions, I could throw mine away.
