MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin police say multiple people have been shot in a home on the west side of Madison.

Madison police Sgt. John Rife says more than two people and fewer than six suffered “significant” injuries and police are not looking for a suspect.

Rife did not know whether anyone had died.

He says police responded after receiving several calls about 6:20 a.m. Saturday.

Rife says he can’t provide more information since it’s still early in the investigation.

Chicago totally prohibits possession of handguns, so there's never a shooting there, right? Washington D.C., aka the Murder Capital of the World, managed to earn it's nickname despite a total ban on firearms. The cradle-to-grave socialists in this country will never put individual responsibility ahead of their "let's pass another law to make things Utopian" fantasy. You are always going to have guns in this world. Unfortunately, there are enough misguided liberals in Wisconsin to insure only the cops and criminals have them when they need them, not the law-abiding citizens.

"Police are not looking for a suspect" usually means a murder-suicide situtation. At least with a gun, the shots drew the attention of the neighbors who called the police and they managed to get two people to the hospital. The attacker probably watched too much TV and bought into the Hollywood concept that a firearm is like a death ray, one shot is guaranteed lethal. The noise from the first shot may alert someone early enough to take steps from becoming another victim. If the attacker had used an axe, he/she would probably have chopped off enough body parts to guarantee there were no survivors and gone on to standing behind the front door waiting for the in-laws to show up or taken his/her deranged state of mind on a road trip, perhaps paying a visit to the workplace.

Deranged individuals have murdered their family members using many non-gun methods. Most people reading this can complete the sentence "Lizzie Borden took an axe and gave her mother 40 wacks...". Remember the story about the mother who drove her car into the lake with her two children inside? If it's not too close to mealtime, Google 'murder suicide arson' and see how many hits you get. Anyone who thinks a ban on firearms would make them safe from an insane family member from trying to kill them in their sleep is also deranged.

Maybe it isn't the guns, but the guns do make it a lot easier for these crazy people to take out a lot of people at one time. Maybe if guns weren't so darn easy to get. I don't see too many people going on killing sprees with knives or chinese throwing stars. Even crazy people know the easiest way to hurt and kill the most people in the shortest amount of time.

If this is truly a "Domestic Dispute", maybe I can understand shooting ones spouse and then oneself in anger and fear. What I can't understand is why these sick individuals feel a need to shoot children. If the shooter isn't dead, this is a good reason why the Death Penalty should exist.
