MADISON, Wis. — The state has issued a consumer alert about Blue Marble Family Farm milk products because it may not be properly pasteurized.

The Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection issued a consumer alert Wednesday evening after lab tests confirmed the pasteurization of the products may have been inadequate. Food safety officials are unaware of any resulting illnesses.

The state is telling anyone with the products from the Barneveld-based farm to discard them.

The Wisconsin State Journal reported the products include whole milk, skim milk, chocolate milk, heavy whipping cream, half and half, buttermilk and eggnog in a variety of sizes.

They have "sell by" dates of Nov. 27 and later and were distributed primarily in southern Wisconsin. The dairy plant number 55131 is on the label.

"Those who produce raw milk have to have much tighter sanitation procedures than those who don't."
Got anything to back that up?

On one hand, "Oh, no -- People might get healthier by using raw milk products! Better stop that right away before the public catches on."

On the other hand, since this is a dairy that normally pasturizes, and therefore would usually kill the germs that puss, fecal matter, etc., in their milk would cause, warning the public is probably a good idea. Those who produce raw milk have to have much tighter sanitation procedures than those who don't.

Napalm, I fail to see how this is classified as a panic and an overreaction. This is a warning to consumers. Be thankful for the warning so that you can watch out for it in case it would make you sick.

Wait until somebody gets sick, or dies. What an enlightened, 21st century approach! Louis Pasteur, what did he know?

"Food safety officials are unaware of any resulting illnesses." ... IF know one has had a issue I don't know if I agree with putting out this kind of warning.

I have gotten this milk plenty of times and NEVER had a problem. As recently as last week. But if you have children who drink this, I would take there warning seriously. I grew up on raw milk and never had one issue with it. This is not really 'raw' but as close as one can get these days. But I won't let my kids drink it until we get the all clear. I am confused as to if it's really a problem or the state just does not like them selling it as they do.
