Wisconsinites looking to save money this holiday
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Some Wisconsinites are opting to save money by staying home this Thanksgiving.
According to AAA, travel dropped 25 percent between 2007 and 2008 nationwide, and this year it predicts that will only increase about 1.4 percent.
Andy Larsen owns a Milwaukee public relations agency. He says health care for his employees has gone up and his clients have cut back in the last year. So he's trying to save money.
Normally he and his family would have gone to a nephew's wedding in Houston over Thanksgiving. Instead only his wife will go and she is staying with family, saving them about $1,000.
Milwaukee bar owner Gilbert Garcia expects people to stay close to party this weekend so he's tending to his two bars instead of visiting friends in other cities.
