Wis. deer kill not expected to change
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A big-game biologist says snowier weather heading for Wisconsin over Thanksgiving likely won't affect the outcome of the deer gun season.
Keith Warnke, of the state Department of Natural Resources, says weather conditions typically have a big impact on opening weekend, but unless conditions are extreme, they have little influence on the rest of the gun season.
He tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette that warm weather, fog and lack of snow may have helped spoil the opening weekend, but harvest numbers were expected to be down anyway.
The deer population is down this year, leading the DNR to extend fewer tags for hunting antlerless deer in most places.
Warnke says the buck harvest over opening weekend was about the same as last year's, but antlerless deer registrations were down.

I totally agree bring back the tradition! of a 9 day season and a standard bow season .remember the party tags? or doe tags for certain counties? all of these bogus seasons the wolf population in central to northern WI and the coyote every where ,bye bye deer and millions of dollars gone as well! Illinois hunters spend alot as well not for long like I said it is a joke

Big surprise. Every hunter has been telling you this for how long, but you don't listen. You hold meetings for people to voice their opinions, yet you don't take action. You cannot eliminate CWD. It's impossible. It's here and the percentage is small. Has been. Lose the four day seasons, the earn-a-buck seasons, the holiday seasons, the shoot as many deer as you want seasons and bring back the 9 day regular season and the regular bowhunt and leave it be! You are the laughing stock of the entire nation with how you handle deer hunting. I hear it all the time from people. Why are you the ones having the biggest issue with this?

Yes, weather was a huge factor this year. As was the harsh weather the last two winters which took a lot of deer. Put the wolves on top of that in the North and what do you think is going to happen to the population? It's going to decrease. That being said, you need to adjust the season and rules accordingly.
