Veterans Affairs secretary fired
MADISON — The Wisconsin Veterans Affairs Board has fired Department Secretary John Scocos just two months after he returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
The board fired Scocos during a special meeting in Madison after spending 90 minutes berating him for a series of missteps and miscommunications. They complained Scocos had kept them in the dark about key decisions.
Scocos said he was given the option of resigning but declined. He said his firing was unfair and he planned to take legal action against the board and its members alleging they violated a federal law that protects returning military members.
Scocos held the job since 2003. The board named department administrator Ken Black the new secretary.

It's broader than just reserving the position, snarly (e.g. "right to free from discrimination and retaliation"), but still I find it ludicrous that a board consisting (by law) entirely of veterans would discriminate against a serving soldier *because of* that status.

The primary concern seems to have been the action he took just last week in reinstating the director of the King Home, who bought a fire truck and other things not in his budget. I expect that he will be fired again by the new Acting Secretary.

This guy is wasting his time on a lawer, he came back to his job and worked in his possition, so he will not win the returning veteran part. that law is if the place he worked at did not let him return to work, then we would have a case.
