One dead in Beloit shooting
BELOIT — Police in Beloit say one person was killed and another was injured after a shooting and a car crash near an elementary school.
Police Capt. William Tyler said the incident started around 1 p.m. Tuesday on the city’s east side among a group of people standing on a corner. He said a suspect chased and shot at a person in a car, and the car crashed onto the grounds of Merrill Elementary School.
Officers found a victim dead inside the car along with a second person who was injured. Tyler said the victim died from gunshot wounds.
The school was in lockdown after the incident. Police were still looking for at least one suspect on the loose Tuesday afternoon.

Very sad situation and prayers to the family. The sad thing is that so many young kids (wannabe thug gang bangers) (and I have seen first hand) are carrying guns or have easy access to them. And this is not just a "Beloit" issue the are many young people right here in 'little old" Janesville that have them or has a friend that will front them one if they need it.To deny it exists is to allow it to get to this point, It can happen right in your front yard or at your childs school. This can happen anywhere and something has to be addressed on this before it does. There was a shooting on Cherry street in the home and another one not to long ago with a gun being put to someones head. And the young kids at the YMCA parking lot.

Let's put the blame where it belongs. "These people" are on the streets not because the Beloit Police Dept fails to put "them" there, but because the District Attorney's Office fails to prosecute unless they are sure they can "win" hands down. How about the Wisconsin Legislature who, due to prison overcrowding, comes up with WI Act 28, which by the way, went into effect on 10/1/09. This lovely piece of legislature gives violent felons the opportunity to be released from prison early. How can you expect attitudes to change at the local level when the people we vote into office say it's O.K. to release "these people" early?

I send my prayers to the family of the victims. No one deserves to die at the end of a handgun, that is probably sold illegally on the streets again or stolen from someone. I don't blame the city of Beloit....how can you? But I do stress that the Beloit Police department should focus more on putting the people in jail that are out their murdering others insted of jailing people on parking tickets or speeders! What is the priority here people? This happened right alongside an elementary school! What if those children would have been outside for recess after lunch? I am sure that the shooter would not have been thinking about the innocent children involved!! Get on the ball police, get these people in jail that belong there!

Many years ago I lived in that rathole of a city (beloit) it never used to be so bad, until bumbling idiots got elected into the city management and council.Once they started wasting,& blowing tax dollars on nonessential & stupid prodjects, property tax's started climbing, job's dried up,property values declined do to the lack of city maintanence. It became more apparent through time, that the city could not afford these essential's because the waste of tax payers money. It was no longer an appeal to big buisness and employers,so many had left beloit and others will not come. Thus inturn had crime risen not only in numbers, but the severity of them.I have been living here in janesville with my wife and kids for several years in hopes that our kids would not be exposed to the crime behaviors of a city like beloit. But now I fear that Janesville will start to become one the same, with all of their wasted spending, lack of jobs, and higher property tax's.The Janesville city management & council need to wake up,tighten up,and stop spending taxpayers money that we don't have, otherwise they are going to run this city into another rathole, crime infested city like beloit!

Wow!!! Scary to think that this is really how people CHOOSE to live their lives!! However, it is not our childrens choice to be sitting in class and have some dirtbag murder someone in front of their schools!!! What a piece of crap!! My condolences to the victims family:(
