Another - hold on a second are you saying we should spend our time murdering religiouis wackos? That would be bad, I can't endorse that.
.
Interesting that you mention if people did what god told them there would not have been a funeral, ummm that guy did what his god told him and there is as much evidence for Allah as there is for the Judeo-christian god. So is it really if people listened to your particular god there would be no funerals?

You would think just in a sense of public relations that this group would have passed this one by and stuck to Christmas displays and such. They have lowered themselves in the eyes of MOST people to the level of the Christian zealots who protest at the funerals of soldiers killed in action. I truly respect their right to object, but come on, have some desency in your life to recognize what situation warrants your objections.

What arrogance!!!
Who are these enlightened ones that need to correct the behavior of others?
For years I have heard people complaining that the church and people that attend are forcing their beliefs on others. A little less hypocrisy please.
Time would be better spent trying to stop criminals and murdering religious wackos.
The real irony here is that if people actually did what God told them, there would be no funeral for this young lady.

The world would be a much better place if we all could live by eight words...
To each their own...
Live and let live....

I will start by stating that I am a believer. I do recall being taught that we have a freedom OF religion and not FROM religion, as somebody already mentioned. As far as I can tell, there is no harm, no foul here. The school did not organize the gathering or finance it. I would like to believe that they chose to send out the notice as a way to honor a student of the campus, not to incur the wrath of the Freedom From Religion groups.

Napalm - What makes you think God didn't have a reason for taking this student's life so early? Give us your insight into the future? Did you read the tarot cards or are you just psychic by telling us what was in store for this student down the road? Please enlighten us with your clairvoyance?

napalm: "Key words" your funeral and they have a right to do their funeral as they please, you sound like the brainwashed one here. You sound like an idiot in what your saying, you sound like the freaks from that group of morons, they have no say in how someone pleases to have a fuberal held. They need to get a life and stop trying to run others. Prayers be with you napalm and Merry Christmas :-)

Napalm--my point about the float was that everyone has the right to their own opinions and beliefs, it doesn't matter if i agree or not they have the RIGHT to believe and to be ACCEPTED for what they believe. My children are very accepting of people who believe differently then they do and even know some people who are PAGAN!

Her family and friends wanted these things said at the service; it is not up to anyone or any group to tell them what they can and cannot say at a service that they organized. All the university did is relay information about an event going on on-campus. The only people that are in the wrong are the people in this organization, ok so you don’t have the same beliefs that is fine however you exercising your rights can not infringe on another’s rights, and limiting what was said at or about this service would be infringing on others rights. Freedom of speech and freedom of religion, complain all you want that is your right but don’t try to stop this family from letting people know. University grounds are routinely used for many different uses as a public establishment the public has the right to organize on campuses. That is all that was being done, and the university was notifying students of the meeting on the campus grounds, to prevent either of those would be to deny someone their rights.

How disrespectful to take away from the real reason this service was held. Keep your anti prayer crap to yourself and let us that want to give thanks and blessings do just that. Those complainers are probably going to hell anyway! GET!

"Are you kidding me? We are teaching our children to speak out against anyone who is different than they are or believes something different then they do by even responding to this group. What ever happened to acceptance of peoples differences and beliefs?"

Exactly, so how about some of you liberal wing bat "squeaky wheels" accept that there are some folks that wish to hold a vigil in honor of a fallen soldier. You want to have your right to disagree, go ahead, disagree all you want. But that doesn't mean that everyone else should always have to bend over backwards to oil the squeaky wheel. The Constitution doesn't guarantee you the right not to ever be offended, about time some of you folks started figuring that out because most of the rest of us figured it out a long time ago.

Where do these sick people come from that think everything they don't like should get changed to the way they want it said. I spose they are the ones that don't like the word "Christmas" too, Merry Christmas everyone.

Oh yeah, and I take offense to the Pagan group at UWW that had a float in the homecoming parade. I then had to explain to my children what PAGAN meant!

Gee would they same the same thing if they wanted to read a passage from the koran? These goofballs take away from the sad loss of life given by a true American Hero. The sad thing is she gave her life to protect these same who would protest her prayer vigil. GOD Bless America!

It saddens me that an institution of learning would promote this sort of activity on their campus. A memorial would be appropriate, and justified.

This country was based on freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. I too am sick and tired of all the politically correct religious speak. It started a few years ago in our schools that we can't say Merry Christmas anymore. OH, be carefully, you don't want to offend anyone so now you can only say happy holidays in front of the holiday tree. I feel like Archie Bunker, but just go away if you don't like the way this country has been operating for the last couple of hundred years.

Ridiculous. This was put on by Amy's family and her best friends, her roommates. They have the right to say what they want to say, and, when each of them spoke, they did so from their hearts about their experiences and memories of Amy. They have every right to do this. IT was not school sponsored, and, HELLO- this is college aged students. Aren't there classes specifically about different religions, and, don't we send our kids there to learn differences of religion? This is ridiculous.

These people are the minority in our country, and it is about time we start ignoring them, as well as publicly speaking out against them, not just grumbling.
This is not even news worthy.
