GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Green Bay conservative talk show host suspended for two weeks for salacious comments about the state's lieutenant governor is back on the air.

Jerry Bader returned to WTAQ Monday.

Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton suddenly dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination for governor Oct. 26, citing "very personal reasons."

Bader speculated on the reason Lawton dropped out and later retracted his comments. Lawton wanted the station to take stronger action than a suspension.

krsmith01, you either have still not read the article or simply unable to grasp the sequence of events. I'll try to spell it out for you.
Earlier this year, Ms. Lawton made a statement saying she was interested in running for Governor. Later, she changed her mind and said that due to "very personal reasons" she no longer wanted to run for Governor. AFTER she decided not to run, Mr. Bader decided to LIE about what "very personal reasons" led Ms. Lawton to decision NOT run for Governor. Now what part of this story don't you get?
-
"She did herself no service first of all by dropping out and second, being vague about it."
-
You think Ms. Lawton owes you, or ANYONE else an explanation for not running? Do you admit what the talk show host did was unethical and morally wrong or will you continue to justify a total and complete fabrication. Would you like me to speculate on why you find it so hard to see the truth?

panamared - My bad - you're right. She dropped out. . .sorry but, bottom line is, she still "QUIT!" Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with what this talk show jerk did to her. And I agree that no one has a right to make disparaging remarks about ANYONE. . .all I'm saying is that if and WHEN people DO make untrue, slanderous, remarks about you (because people will STILL do it whether it's right OR wrong). . DON'T BAIL! Stand your ground!!! The worst thing you could do is "drop out of the race!" If everyone did what she did this world would be a mess! And if she dropped out of the race because she no longer wants to be "beat up" by the public, then just say so. At least Sarah Palin had the "stones" to get on national television and say that the reason she left is IN PART because she was sick and tired of all the CRAP. No matter how much I didn't care for Palin in general, I commend her for being honest about at least SOME of the reasons why she left. Why couldn't Lt. Gov. Lawton just have done that? The excuse "personal reasons" just makes Lawton look like she's got something to hide or she's just a whimp. And if the shock jock's comment had no bearing on her decision to drop out, she could have just said that too! She did herself no service first of all by dropping out and second, being vague about it.

"What doesn't sit well is why she would abruptly resign over it!"
krsmith01, why don't you try READING the article before commenting! Ms. Lawton decided NOT TO RUN for Governor. She DID NOT RESIGN.
I agree that holding ANY public office leaves a person open for criticism which usually include less than truthful statements about stances on issues, etc. Comments regarding job performance come with the territory. However, NO ONE has a RIGHT to make either disparaging comments concerning family members or unfounded accusations meant only to assassinate an individuals character. Clearly this conservative talk show host decided uttering a lie was better for his ratings than speaking the truth and because of that has lost all credibility. Basically those defending him seem to say its ok to lie, the truth doesn't matter if politics are involved. I say BS. It does not matter if you are conservative or liberal, to accept and defend a known liar makes you no better than the liar. Its that simple.

SarahB1 - I said I DIDN'T think her feelings were hurt. Gpawcat asked if her feelings were hurt. And I gotta agree with momo5's earlier comment on this one saying that the Lt. Gov. needs some thicker skin! No matter how evil and misguided that radio jerk is, being in a public position (especially politics), makes Lt. Gov. Lawton open game for ANYONE to criticize - that's a peril of the job, like it or not. What doesn't sit well is why she would abruptly resign over it! She's a politician for cripes sake! SURELY this creepy shock jock is not the first person who has ever said slanderous, nasty, untrue remarks about her in public. It just causes public suspicion when she or anyone in a political position just hauls off and resigns. I know alot of people don't like Hillary Clinton, but if that would have happened to her she would have chewed that crappy "journalist" up and spit him out on national television - and then she would have gone right back to her job! She sure as hell wouldn't have just walked away and RESIGNED!

This complaint and reaction should come as no surprise to anyone. Lawtons reaction is typical for liberals: "whining, hand wringing, teeth gnashing, always the victim, I have such a tough life" and on ond on ad nauseam

janesvillean - thanks for the links. I hadn't read what he had actually said on the radio before. Pretty crass! Actually, I'm surprised he made it back on the air from that radio station. He deserves to be fired for that crap he was spewing. And I don't care what political party she was from.

Hmmmm. . . .I don't think her feelings were "hurt." Why would one drop out "abruptly" over hurt feelings? Doesn't make sense. Nor would she want to take legal action if, by chance she may have dropped out because of some personal "dirty laundry" that would cause her embarrassment and grief it were exposed i.e. a possible past affair? etc. Gee, ya think that could be it? Just a wild guess.

Why are so many right wing talk radio hosts amoral jerks? This guy engaged in unfounded, hurtful slander, repeating more than once that his information was being "reported factually".

She can always take legal action if she doesn't like it.
