GERMANTOWN -- Police on Monday identified the teenage boy found dead inside a vehicle Sunday night at a Wal-Mart parking lot as Cody A. Reetz of Grafton.

The boy’s stepfather, a 37-year-old Grafton man, is being held at the Washington County Jail on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide, Village Police Chief Peter Hoell said Monday.

The Grafton man also is a suspect in a domestic violence incident earlier this month in Grafton, Grafton Police Chief Charles Wenton said Monday.

The man’s wife alleged he struck her with a hammer multiple times on Nov. 8. She reported the incident a week later, arriving at the Grafton police department around 4 p.m. Sunday. She told police at that time that the boy was with the suspect.

Reetz, 14, was an eighth grade student at John Long Middle School. Grief counselors were available at the school Monday, Principal Greg Kabara said in a letter to parents.

The suspect went to the Washington County Sheriff’s Department Sunday night and voluntarily surrendered, Hoell said. The sheriff’s department contacted Germantown police about 8 p.m. Sunday with information on the location of a possible homicide victim.

The boy’s body was found inside a vehicle at the parking lot adjacent to the store, W190-N9855 Appleton Ave.

Is it my vigilante mind or does anyone else think it's possible he is covering for someone?

"Grafton man strangled stepson with necktie" - headline from JSONLINE.
How do folks feel about capitol punishment in this case?
I think he should be hung at high noon in the Town Square!

jvillerdr - I know. I'm not that naive. It's just she only reported it when her son was with him. I shouldn't try to understand an issue until ALL information is out.

I agree SwissChick, that article from JSonline made me sick. Just when I thought this story couldn't get me anymore nauseated. This mother is going to need alot of prayers, support, and help. Even though it took her a week to report her injuries, she should not feel guilty about what happened. This man sounds like a real sick individual. The entire family wasn't safe with him, no matter when she would have reported it. I have seen many women who suffer from domestic abuse, refuse to report their injuries. Perhaps after he took off with her son, she felt by going to the police, she could save/help him. We will never really know the total and complete truth.

SwissChick, this is not an unusual phenomenon in domestic abuse situations. Often there is delayed reporting. The victims often fear the abusers so much and fear further retaliation that they wait. And in fact, it seems that she had reason to fear that he would do something worse, if he did what authorities are now claiming.

I'm not sure why a person would wait a week to report a hammer assault. I'd think there would be some pretty serious injuries from that type of tool.

In Dante's Inferno, those who betrayed kin (including murder) are encased in a frozen river, with only their faces showing: where shame is expressed. This is the Ninth Circle of Hell, the lowest and most base sins in Dante's vision.

There must be a special place in hell for parents like this one and some that others have mentioned.

SwissChick: I totally agree, I can't ever imagine what would possess a "parent" to do such a thing.

This guy can go and so can that broad from North Carolina that "sold" her 5-year-old daughter into prostitution. Her body was found late this morning or early afternoon. So sad. Poor thing.

Name hasn't been released because he hasn't been formally charged yet. Probably tomorrow said a news wire.
