DARIEN--The chairman of the Darien Police and Public Safety Committee has resigned.

John Evans, 516 Danielson Drive, Darien, on Friday sent a letter of resignation to village board President Evelyn Etten and the other members of the police and public safety committee.

Etten in April appointed Evans to head the police committee shortly after she was elected.

Evans has been outspoken against the board's March vote to fire suspended Police Chief Steve DeVoy.

In his letter, he wrote that settlement was the village's only option with DeVoy. He told the Gazette he was not comfortable working in the current political climate in the village.

I would not want to be on a committee where the vp thinks she has to run everything, "my way or the highway, or I will make your life *ell!" and how many user names does she need? WE ARE ALL DOOMED, TRY TO SELL NOW AND GET OUT OF TOWN! The new village name will be eeville, what a joke of a village we live in.

It does matter because what makes John Evans so "special" to be the only one to have his address listed in any of the articles in the past year? I understand that this doesn't have anything to do with what is going on, but I find this odd.

Typically, from my understanding, public officials have known addresses anyway, so it doesn't really matter then, does it?

Another one bites the dust.

Thanks to the 4 CROOKED board members who only care about themselves and are not in office to represent the people.

Really? The gazette needs to put his home address in the article. What purpose does that serve? If that's the case, why doesn't the gazette put the home address's to all Darien board members?

Good move, John; I don't blame you, I'd do the same.
