JANESVILLE — The Janesville Fire Department burned a house along Milton Avenue on Friday as part of a training exercise, an official said.

The controlled burn started in the 4300 block of Milton Avenue on Friday morning and has been visible to drivers along Highway 26 and Interstate 90/39, a Rock County dispatcher said.

The burn has caused many drivers to call 911, the dispatcher said.

I know it wasn't moved recently. I was referring to the house that was moved to make room for the M&I parking lot. Thanks.

To answer your question, Hwy 26 is Milton Ave. wherever it is annexed by the city. If I'm correct, it's this ranch house:

.
The house has to go because the state is building frontage roads so that Hwy 26 will be limited access. Two homes to the south have already been removed.

Swiss Chick, at least in the last two years there hasn't been a house in the area moved. The property was North of the M&I and Shorewest Realtors.

Its probably the house right next to the bank and the intersection of Y and 26. The FD has been prepping it for about a week now.
