Woman pleads guilty to 13th drunken driving charge
MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) — A western Wisconsin woman has pleaded guilty to her 13th drunken driving charge.
Fifty-one-year-old Lisa White of St. Croix Falls was arrested in Barron County last June while she was on extended supervision for drunken driving convictions in Eau Claire and Burnett counties.
She was sentenced to three years in prison in Eau Claire County last month for violating terms of her extended supervision. In September, she received 18 months in prison for violating her supervision in Burnett County.
White is to be sentenced on the Barron County drunken driving conviction Dec. 15.
Her previous drunken driving convictions date back to 1991 and happened in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Ahh yes I forgot this is WI the state where people sit at home on their computers and mock and complain about laws rather than actually getting out and trying to change them somehow. My Bad.

facebooker09 - The reason for the joke comments is because, this wasn't her 2nd or 3rd offense. For the love of God it was 13!!!!!!! That many DUI's only PROVES that Wisconsin's drunk driving laws are apparently nothing BUT a joke! The bad comments aren't so much about HER, it's about the fact that if you or ANYONE can get 13 DUI's (and STILL be out there drinking and driving) . . . it's pretty difficult to take Wisconsin DUI laws seriously.

Her butt should have been in jail after #2. You're supposed to learn from your "mistakes". The more "mistakes", the more time.

Agreed! My family is mostly from the country and not in the city. When I was little even we used to "take car of things on our own". I also agree that now its asking to be shot or be sued if you tried it.
I also agree that WI needs to do more than just send them to jail. Yes I know we don't even really do that all that often but I think the state needs to step in in some cases and in force rehab.

About getting tough in neighborhoods, I agree totally! My dad and his friends (over 40 years ago) would all grab a weapon, like a hammer, a lawn hose, etc., and chase the bullies out of our neighborhood. It worked! I am not promoting violence just telling what my folks used to do. Now, a kid would probably shoot you if you did that, so I don't recommend it! As for the jokes about this lady, yes she needs serious help and needed it along time ago, what happened? Did the system just forget her or what? Counseling, rehab, etc., would have probably helped her or intreatment would have been better. Her life is gone, just becuz of almighty alcohol! How sad!

I have to say it really makes me sad to read all the joke comments! Im sure I will have all kinds of comments about this one but oh well. Yeah I agree WI should be stricter on DDers. However just because they are not, does not mean that we should joke about it. This lady has a problem I do not think that any one can agrgue that, so what we just sit and make fun of her? Yeah i know this whole blog sight is for comments and if I dont like it dont read it....BLAH BLAH BALH!!!! Maybe instead of me not reading you people who are joking about this should grow up!
You tease someone because she called someone in for driving drunk? So have I. I have also called in when I saw kids selling pot last year down the street from me. I have also called in when kids shoot firecrackers off in my street. Oh boy what a bad thing to do!?!

Hey "Snazzy"--Pedophilia has nothing to do with drunk driving, but the war in Iraq DOES? I think those of us that are actually thinking adults all understand that a preference for life imprisonment in these cases implies a preference for changing the laws that now prevent this.

Suggest removal I guess this just goes to show how worthless "extended supervision" is. Our elected officials are depending on everyone accepting the inflated value of "extended supervision", electronic bracelets and "house arrest" so that they can substitute those "innovations" for jail time since they are reluctant to build more jails. Tougher laws won't mean anything until our elected officials begin to accept the value of "hard" jail time. Maybe what we really need are tougher elected officials.
.
WRONG!
.
Anyone willing to deny that this women has a serious alcohol addiction problem?
.
Just because extended supervision didn't work for this women doesn't mean it won't work for others. Blindly saying "more jail time" is not the answer. Sure, it is easier, and might make some feel better, but it doesn't work and is VERY EXPENSIVE.
.
This women doesn't have a problem with the law, she has a problem with alcohol.

She wasn't allowed to "roam free", she has already spent time in prison, and her extended supervision requirements include a number of features to encourage her to maintain sobriety. She did violate that with the June arrest and has been sent back to state prison already, in advance of sentencing for this new charge. The idea that we can solve a chronic alcohol problem by simply locking someone up forever is inimical to concepts of personal liberty and the Eighth Amendment.
.
She would probably do better in a drug court program with consistent and close follow-up supervision. Parole doesn't really provide that.

Her last OWI was not in 1991. She has 13 offenses dating back from the present to 1991. Slow down and read the article.
Also the laws changed in 1989 that OWI/DUI will no longer be expunged from you MVR after 10 years, they stay on your record for LIFE.

.
crunch_munch - I find it hard to believe that she is under extended supervision from a 1991 conviction and she hasn't arrested since then. She would mean she had twelve prior to 1991 and for some reason didn't get caught all those years? I think they mean that the OWI's go back through the years to 1991. At least, I hope they mean that.

It’s not her fault. Blame should go to the bartenders, breweries and makers of alcohol.
Also, to blame are her parents and the car manufacturers; plus the state and county governments for making the roads and highways; plus the mankind for making laws against drunk driving.
