Report says Wis. economy will improve in 2010
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new state Department of Revenue report projects that Wisconsin's economy will improve in 2010.
The report says that unemployment will peak at 9.3 percent in the first three months of the year, then slowly recover. Total employment numbers aren't expected to reach pre-recession levels until 2012.
The quarterly report also projects that personal income will grow 2.1 percent next year as wages begin to grow again. Even stronger growth is projected over the next two years.
Wisconsin officially entered the recession at the end of 2007. Between December of that year and August, the state lost nearly 139,000 jobs.
