Emerald ash borer found in Oak Creek
OAK CREEK – The ash-tree killing emerald ash borer has been found in trees in Oak Creek, the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection announced.
The ash borer larvae or their characteristic D-shaped holes were found Wednesday in the bark of trees about one-third mile apart, according to a news release.
Emerald ash borers have been discovered so far in seven Wisconsin counties, including this latest find in Milwaukee County. The other counties are Brown, Crawford, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Vernon and Washington.
State and federal quarantines currently exist in 11 Wisconsin counties: Brown, Crawford, Fond du Lac, Kenosha, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sheboygan, Vernon, Washington and Waukesha.
