Driver flees accident scene that closed Highway 11
ORFORDVILLE—Rock County Sheriff’s Office deputies continue to search for the person whose car crashed and burned Monday night on Highway 11 at South Footville Road, according to a press release.
Deputies along with Orfordville police responded to the one-vehicle crash at 10:53 p.m., the release said.
The initial investigation indicates a 1997 Chevy Lumina was traveling east on Highway 11 when it drifted and hit a guardrail. When the driver overcorrected, the car traveled across the highway and hit another guardrail. Upon impact the car’s accelerator stuck causing the motor and exhaust to overheat and start a fire, the release said.
The unidentified driver, who fled the scene, was able to escape with the help of two witnesses, who said there were no injuries, the release said.
Footville firefighters also responded to the scene. Highway 11 was closed for 45 minutes when traffic was rerouted, according to the release.

It was a kid who was afraid that they'd get in trouble.... so, just report that it was stolen? I've known some kids to do that.

+1 on the high comment.......When will the pot smokers learn? The cops should have checked Taco Bell and Mickey D's......The suspect was probably in one of the two inhaling a value meal......:)

Kid--You're much too paranoid! Actually, I have much more argument with the advocates of that legal drug you referred to--& I don't think I exaggerated THEIR position by much! Some have insisted in these forums(in case you missed it) that they're born with the right to drink & drive!

I'm pretty sure the people that helped him get out were just being good citizens and helping someone after an accident.
I heard some of this on the scanner last night. They have a description of the guy and one of his shoes lol. And since they have the car and license plate, I'm sure they will get their man soon.

hahahaha. im not sure if you are directing your unintelligent 'certain poster' statement at me or not, so cuz ive got time...lets assume you are:) please...brwe show me where ive said that it 'has nothing to do with traffic incidents'. actually ill save you the time and repeat what ive repeated a thousand times b4. its a mind altering drug. it affects all peeps dift and i would in no way encourage someone to smoke pot and drive. i advocate for medical marijuana and the option for free tax paying adult american citizens the right to smoke pot, not to smoke and drive. i know there are millions of miles driven every year by pot smokers and i know that it absolutely causes some traffic accidents and some traffic fatalities. i also know those numbers are minuscule compared to the traffic accidents/fatalities caused by a LEGAL drug...

He/she probably wasn't under the influence of anything, because certain posters keep assuring us that has nothing to do with traffic incidents!

Maybe or maybe they were drunk and did not want a DUI. I know that happened to me, a guy rear-ended me then took off because he was drunk. Thanks to good people, they got his plate number and he was arrested a week later.
