MILWAUKEE--Milwaukee police are investigating after a gun battle erupted Saturday night that left one man dead and another man seriously hurt.

Police say it started about 9 p.m. near North 42nd Street and West Hampton Avenue when the occupants to two vehicles began firing.

When officers arrived, they found a bullet-riddled automobile nearby with a man in the backseat. He had been shot several times, including once to the head. He was declared dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital by a witness. The driver had gunshot wounds to his arms and chest. He was in stable condition, but isn’t cooperating with investigators.

While several homes and vehicles were hit by bullets, police say no other injuries were reported.

Even in Milwaukee this doesn't happen every day. Homicides in that city peaked in 1991 and have been below the 25-year average since 2005.

may not be news to some but it is to others also this could happen here. There are many young idiots carrying guns and we have had attempted drive-bys and shooting at homes right here in sweet and innocent jay-town wake up violence and crime like this is news and happens everywhere. If you recall one down by the YMCA.

Um, yeah Napalm...there was a gun battle in the middle of a neighborhood ending in a dead body found in the back of a bullet ridden car. I would say that this is news. I know it's not a typical Janesville headline about an Ice Arena or GM, but there is a world outside of your bubble.
