JANESVILLE -- Beautiful weather and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels helped attract a record number of people to Southern Wisconsin AirFest, officials said.

“It was our best year ever,” said Tom Morgan, AirFest executive director.

About 60,000 people attended AirFest this year, three times more than the 20,000 who attended in 2008, he said.

To say the coverage was "fine"! I have yet to see in the years that the show has exsisted any outstanding articles or interviews with the performers. It must be we are so concerened about stuffing money into an ice arena that does nothing for the tax payers or has any entertainment value for the city of Janesville. If the airshow goes away, I hope the ice arena can take in 60,00 fans in a weekend!

The Gazette had several articles in the paper, and will have more coverage today. They have interviewed several people formally from the area that work for either the Blue Angels or a stunt pilot. The coverage is fine.

We are very fortunate to have an event like this, since our airport is located outside the city limits and be able to have a jet act. You can make the comparisons to Rockford, but this city has had nothing to offer. To me it is about giving the support to keep this event coming back. This is "great" entertainment value for the money. There were more display aircfaft than in the past and it will continue to get better. My good friend does all the refueling for this out of the Janesville Jet Center. I personally see the hard work and preperation they do for just a few days. As a matter of fact the Blue Angels PR department, pilots and all the other performers have stated that this is the best refueling team they have ever worked with as far as the timing of fuel when they need it and the other things they may need for their act. The newspaper coverage has to get alot better than what it has been. They don't seem to put any real effort to try to cover this event. There are hardly any pictures and interviews with pilots or staff. This thing "rocks"! Lets keep it here.

What a great show and I couldn't believe how many people were there! Hard to believe times are that tough when you see a turnout like that. Good to see and it just shows you that people aren't going to let all the doom and gloom ruin a good thing like this. Our community needs a good boost like that and I don't think people realize how big of a deal it is to have the Blue Angels come to this show. They are truly amazing. I hope all the whiners that were complaining about having to leave the area actually went over and watched the show. If not, your loss.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t attend the AirFest but I could hear some “BOOM” sounds on Sunday afternoon while being Chef-Bill and grilling for the family. I did hear on my scanner that someone in Darien thought, “The pipeline blew up.” True story.

Calm down now big boy lol. Everybody has the right to their own opinion and that's mine. The Janesville Airfest was ok but I'm just saying that I been to others that I liked better.

To me the janesville Airfest has a little something to offer everyone that comes to the show. I been about 2 or 3 times. My kids love everything about it. It has static displays, Acrobat Planes and Military Planes. And that's good that that it can entertain a lot of people.

The reason I said Rockford's is a lot better is because I like to see the military aircraft and Rockford offers a lot of them; not just one or two. This year Rockford is having the F-22 Raptor which I am looking forward to seeing. Now don't get me wrong Rockford also has it's share of Acrobat Planes also. But I do think that the Rockford Airfest has a lot more military planes that perform.

It was alright, but definitely not the best! Rockford's Airshow is by far better then this one.

Great show!!! The sun was hot and I'm burned to a crisp but thats my fault. The Blue Angels were great but I also really liked the F16 demo!! I met Patty Wagstaff and got her autograph--very nice lady and great pilot!!!
