BELOIT--Ron Nief will retire as director of public affairs at Beloit College on May 31, the end of the school's academic year, he announced today.

His retirement has been in the planning stages for more than a year, he said.

In April, the college's board of trustees honored Nief with the title of director of public affairs emeritus and recognized him at commencement.

Nief plans to stay in the Beloit area and hopes to work on a number of special projects with the college and well as on some of his own writing, he said.
