Milton approves Alliant expansion
The Milton City Council approved tonight a land sale and conditional use permit for Alliant Energy to expand its substation near High and Elm streets.
The council originally planned to vote on the proposal April 21, but Milton Propane owner John Arndt said at the meeting he wanted part of the land for a rail spur.
Mayor Tom Chesmore said the city wants to help Arndt install a rail spur when the time comes, but the Alliant expansion is too important to the community to delay any longer.

pushing things through? This project has been in open meetings and discussion for over 2 years. I applaud the city council for finally taking a stand and doing what is best for the city.

Woodsman just has his eyes open, if you ask me, after all, the city council has a history of pushing things through. Anyone remember that debacle that is the ethanol plant?

I guess woodsman is just a conspiracy theorist. Since the community itself benefits from the substation I think it's clear that this isn't simply a question of what Alliant wants. Why would Alliant need to bribe anyone if they already approve?

Woodsman--Do you ever have anything positive to say? Sure doesn't sound like it! Why don't you just go crawl back into your moms basement and keep your negative comments to yourself! You never have anything intelligent to say so therefore you're not worthy of anyones time!
