LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — The National Weather Service says a late frost will cover nearly all of Wisconsin and central Minnesota early Sunday morning as temperatures dip into the low-30s.

A frost advisory issued Saturday afternoon says the frost will develop and potentially damage uncovered plants between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday because of a large cold high pressure area moving through.

A freeze warning has also been issued for northeastern Wisconsin where temperatures will dip below the freezing mark with winds gusting over 25 mph.

The National Weather Service predicts lows of 34 degrees in La Crosse, 33 degrees in Madison, 32 degrees in Eau Claire, 36 degrees in the Twin Cities and 38 degrees in Milwaukee.

Yes I remember 1989. It was Mother's Day and it was a thundersnow...the first one I'd ever seen (heard!).

Gary - don't you know that it's cruel to keep them "confined to their cages"? They should be allowed "free range" to be happy tomatos.

Anyone remember the six inch snowfall we had on May 8, 1989?

No sign of frost here. Low was about 35. Tomatoes are safely confined to their cages and in excellent health.

I learned from growing up in New England to not plant (transplant) tomato plants until the last weekend in May.
garyprimer, get your butt out there and at least put some newspapers over them. *s* Good luck,

I think that I will take my chances. It's just too late to go out and cover things now. I may have to buy some new plants. :- (
