MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Dane County coroner says preliminary autopsy findings indicate drowning likely caused the death of a Milwaukee man whose body was found floating Thursday in Lake Mendota.

Officers were called to James Madison Park about 5:30 a.m. after a citizen discovered the body near the park’s boathouse.

He is identified as 29-year-old Dwayne Mayes.

Dane County Coroner John Stanley said Mayes’ family last saw him in Milwaukee on Monday.

The death remains under investigation.
